  Objectives/Activities

  • To enhance Livestock and poultry productivity through Elite Germplasm identification, conservation, production and dissemination.
  • To provide efficient Livestock healthcare, Genetic improvement, nutrition, extension and marketing services/ advisories through well-equipped field centers.
  • To prevent and control the incidence of infectious diseases in animals for attaining disease free and international trade compliant status through vaccine production, vaccination, diagnosis and disease reporting. 
  • To increase farmer’s income from Livestock products, processing (milk, meat, eggs and their processed products) and marketing of Germplasm in the country and abroad through entrepreneurship development.
  • To ensure modern infrastructure, latest technological and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) applications with enhanced professional competence in serving the stakeholders.
  • To collaborate with other departments / agencies / stakeholders / countries for achieving objectives of the Department.
