The Punjab Veterinary Vaccine Institute, Ludhiana was set up in the year 1971 with the idea of manufacturing of various Biological Products required for the control of different contagious diseases among livestock including poultry. The Institute started production on a meager scale in the fourth five year plan. By now the Institute has gained self sufficiency in meeting the requirements of following biological products: BACTERIAL VACCINE- H.S. (Alum P.P.T) Vaccine, Enterotoxaemia, Black Quarter Vaccine. VIRAL VACCINES: Ranikhet F-1 strain, R2B Vaccine, Fowl Pox Vaccine, Swine Fever Vaccine. ANTIGENS: Salmonella Pullorum Coloured Antigen, Brucella Abortus Coloured Antigen, Brucella Plain Antigen, Brucella Milk Ring Testing Antigen. Beside this, the Institute has been meeting the requirements of some of the vaccines of other neighboring States. To comply with the requirements & guidelines of Drugs Controller, Govt. of India, steps has been initiated to meet the required standard work has been already started. It is further mentioned that a consultant regarding preparation of maps had been appointed for upgradation of Punjab Veterinary Vaccine Institute upto international GMP level. After several meetings in which representative of Central Drug Controller and State Drug Controller participated and the approved maps of three buildings are finalized for which by following Govt. rules civil work has been started by the Panchyati Raj, Ludhiana and HVAC system for two buildings (Animal House & Quality Control Lab) has been started by the agency to whom the work has been allotted. Now the construction work and the implementation of HVAC system is in full swing and hope it will be completed in allotted stipulated period. To gain self dependence in Lab. Animals required for the testing of various vaccines, a separate Animal House has been established for breeding of Rabbits & Mice. 163 Mice, 293 Rabbits, 400 one day old poultry chicks & 168 poultry birds were used for production and testing of different vaccines. A material Transfer Agreement (MTA) for transfer of cell culture swine fever vaccine virus, was signed between ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar and Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Punjab at IVRI, Izatnagar (U.P ) in August, 2017. Future goals of PVVI, Ldh include production of tissue culture swine fever vaccine, rabies vaccine, PPR vaccine for the state.Contact :-
